A councillor has spread a little cheer this festive season by teaming up with the Salvation Army and Petersfield Food Bank to deliver hampers to families.

More than 120 hampers filled with chocolates, puddings, cakes and other treats are distributed to homes around the Petersfield area. East Hampshire District Councillor Nick Drew, delivered hampers in his ward of Froxfield and Privett.

He said: “Local teams, including myself, nominate deserving locals - mostly senior citizens who live alone or those who have had a particularly tough year.

“We then pick up the hampers from the Salvation Army HQ in Petersfield and distribute them over the Christmas period.

“The response from those who receive these hampers is tremendous and truly ensures that our community is cared for during what can be a challenging time for many.”

Steve Field, and his team from Agencies Working Together, work to secure funding and buy the items needed to create the wonderful Christmas hampers.
