Alton Climate Action Network’s group Alton and Villages Local Action for Nature (AVLAN) was highly commended in the Wilder Neighbourhoods category at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust Wilder Annual Awards.

This award was for community, volunteer or local groups who took transformative action for nature. AVLAN was shortlisted alongside winners Wilder Bramley and the Fawcett Road Greening Group in Portsmouth.

AVLAN chair Gareth Hurd said: “It was great to see so many people and organisations doing their best for nature. Congratulations to Wilder Bramley for winning our category, with us coming credible runners-up!”
