Millais Nurseries in Churt has announced a change in ownership.

Daniel Turner, the nursery manager who has worked at the company for 17 years, has bought Millais Nurseries from previous owners David and Susanna Millais.

Founded by David’s parents, Ted and Romy Millais, Millais Nurseries specialises in the cultivation and distribution of rhododendrons and azaleas.

The nursery offers one of the widest ranges of rhododendrons in the country, which are available from its specialist plant centre in Churt or its website.

David has decided to retire.

“I am immensely proud of how the nursery has developed over the years,” said David. “It has been an honour to expand on the legacy of my parents and build such a respected rhododendron nursery. I have full confidence in Daniel’s ability to lead the nursery into the future.”

Daniel and his partner Sarah Nicholson, the new owners of Millais Nurseries, bring a fresh perspective. With a commitment to preserving the nursery while driving innovation and focusing on the best environmental practices, Daniel aims to deliver exceptional plants and services to customers.

“I am thrilled to be taking on the responsibility of leading Millais Nurseries into its next chapter,” said Daniel. “I have long admired the nursery’s dedication to collecting and propagating a large range of rhododendron varieties, from the most modern new hybrids with vivid colours and scents, to conserving heritage varieties and rare species. I am excited to continue building upon these foundations and focus on producing quality plants to satisfy every customer.”
