A CLUB’S wish to cut its energy bills has been granted by East Hampshire District Council as its solar system has gone live.
The future looks bright for Petersfield Bowling & Snooker Club as 21 solar panels have been installed at the St Peter’s Road outfit.
Supporters hope the £19,700 scheme, coupled with a battery storage system, will halve the club’s energy bills while making a positive contribution to mitigating the climate crisis.
The app-monitored system has generated 1.36 megawatts of electricity since July, equating to a CO2 reduction of 281kg or 17 trees being planted.
A £10,000 community grant was awarded with the club urging groups in a similar situation to check out funding options.
