The landlord of an Alton pub has served up a double after tasting more success in a district competition.
Phil Troubridge is the toast of real ale drinkers as The Eight Bells is the East Hants CAMRA Pub of the Year.
The popular watering hole on Church Street came ahead of 50 other real ale pubs from around the district to win the much-coveted title for the second year running.
There were cheers on Wednesday, May 8, when CAMRA branch chair Shirley Hawley presented the long-standing landlord with a certificate.
Pubs who win the award are recognised for the quality of their beer, with ales from the likes of The Flower Pots Brewery regularly on tap at The Eight Bells.
Competition organisers also highlighted the pub’s role as a “much valued community local” before calling it a “haven for conversation and socialising.”
