Alton-based choir Luminosa Music is holding a workshop at St Thomas-on-The Bourne Church in Farnham on March 15.
Singers from Hampshire and Surrey will have the opportunity to work with Joanna Forbes L'Estrange’s beautiful new work A Season To Sing, a reimagining of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, in association with the Royal School of Church Music.
The day will be led by Joanna and Luminosa’s artistic director Rebekah Abbott, with plenty of opportunity to sing the work and learn new choral tips and tricks from Joanna and Rebekah.
Luminosa co-commissioned this piece of accessible and clever music which will provide a wonderful event for all levels and backgrounds of singer.
Joanna said: “The Four Seasons is the first piece of music I can remember hearing from my childhood. I used to dance around the sitting room to it.
“I thought a great way to mark its 300th anniversary would be to make it possible for choirs to perform it. Vivaldi’s tunes are so magnificent they deserve to be sung.”
Joanna is a multifaceted musician who performs, composes, records, directs and produces music in a wide variety of genres.
Her career began with seven years as soprano and musical director of five-time Grammy award-winning vocal group The Swingles, with whom she toured the world and produced six albums.
The workshop will start at 10am, with a break from midday until 2pm for a bring and share lunch, and then further rehearsals until 5pm, followed by an informal performance at 6pm.
Luminosa Music will perform A Season To Sing at St Bartholomew the Great Church in West Smithfield, London, on March 22.
It will be performed in association with the Royal School of Church Music, a Salisbury-based national independent charity enabling the flourishing of church music.
