A Four Marks brewery is the pride of East Hampshire after taking gold for one of its tipples.

Glasses have been raised at Triple fff after Alton Pride claimed the top prize at a regional award ceremony organised by Society of Independent Brewers Association (SIBA).

The brewery will now compete in the SIBA National Finals for the title of British Cask Bitter 2024 after sharing gold in the London & South East Beer Awards.

It was a good competition for the village brewery as their Pressed Rat & Warthog Dark Mild also won a bronze in the Cask Session Dark Beers category.

The brewery’s success has delighted founder and head brewer, Graham Trott, as Alton Pride saw off some heavyweight counterparts to take gold.

He said: “At 3.8 per cent, Alton’s Pride has less alcohol than the competitors in the class and to compete in terms of body and taste with the lower alcohol level is terrific”.

Alton’s Pride is no stranger to awards, having previously won the Supreme Champion Beer of Britain Award in 2008 run by CAMRA.

The name Triple fff comes from the musical instruction ‘fortissimo’ meaning extremely loud and most of the beers produced have a name with musical connotations.

Its best seller is Moondance (Van Morrison) and its latest creation is called Nothing Else Matters (Metallica) and its Pilsner is called Jagged Little Pilsner (Alanis Morissette).

Triple fff beers can be sampled at the brewery’s tap room or pubs across the South including the Railway Arms in Alton.
